Nutcracker Holiday Party

Ahhhh...nothing says the holidays have arrived like peppermint mochas, knitted sweaters, and the Nutcracker. Now, everyone in our family shows their Nutcracker appreciation in different ways.  My husband loves listening to Trans Siberian Orchestra's urban spin on the classic Nutcracker instrumentals.  My mother expresses her love through hundreds of Nutcrackers that annually take over every shelf, nook, and cranny in her house.  And I personally love the romance of it know, a heroic nutcracker who fights an evil mouse king to save the sugarplum princess as they dance their way to happily ever after and such.  But really, the most dedicated of us all is my daughter, who, bless her heart, is so incredibly enthralled with the Nutcracker ballet, that the three year old has taught herself the steps to Clara's solo, as reenacted in our living room, the parking lot, the grocery store, and pretty much anywhere else that could even slightly resemble a theater stage in her fantastic imagination.

So, when she looks up at me with those precious wide eyes of hers and asks, "Mama, can I have a Nut-kwacker paw-tee?" I ask you, who am I to say no? Which brings me, dear readers, to this darling Nutcracker paw-tee...pee wee version. Because, really, what's cuter than tots in tutus?

Sigh...nothing melts my heart more than adorable ballerinas in a tiny winter wonderland:)

Got Milk? Baby Shower

It seems baby season is upon my friends and I and I am LOVING it!
What's cuter than bedazzled onesies, cuddly stuffed animals, and miniature baby shoes??
...A baby shower that goes moo!

My friend was expecting a sweet baby girl and I absolutely fell in love with the idea of doing a pink cow print baby shower.  I even had a darling cow outfit from little Audrey's baby shower that lended itself perfectly to the theme.

For the backdrop, I made this cute picket fence out of poster board.

Recycled baby food jars were used as mini milk jugs, and scrapbook strips added an extra ounce of adorable.

The little details were the most fun...

Ok, I had no idea cow print ribbon was so hard to find, but look how perfect the diaper cake came out!

It was such a fun baby shower, and kid-friendly too!
Now, I can't wait to get my snuggles when her little bundle of joy arrives:)

Lion King Birthday

Oh how I love the season of summer birthdays! Between my oldest daughter, my mom, my aunt, my brother-in-law, and my niece, the first two weeks of August are PACKED.  But let's be honest, it's the kiddos' parties that are really fun;)  While Little Fashionista settled on a Brave theme, Miss Sparklepants opted for Lion King and the result was simply RAWR-some!

The food table!

Another fabulous cake, courtesy of Diane Anderson.

"Cub Cups": Cubed ham and cheese

"Bugs on a Log": Celery sticks with cream cheese, ranch, and sunflower seeds (in light of Little Fashionista's peanut allergy)

"Tiger Tails": Cheese puffs

"Jungle Vines": Sour punch straws

"Grub": Crumbled chocolate muffin and gummy worms

"Zebra Cakes":

"Jungle Juice"

"Watering Hole"

Miss Sparklepants' birthday chair!

Jungle Swing

"Paw Print Cookies"

Lion Favor Bags

And that concludes this year's summer birthday palooza! We definitely ended with a!

A Brave Birthday

Bravery, fate, and birthday cake--that pretty much sums up Little Fashionista's 3rd (golden, might I add) birthday this year.  She absolutely insisted on all things Merida and the crafty goddess inside me was jumping for joy.  The possibilities were endless! From $1 bow and arrows to Disney Store's Twice-Upon-a-Year sale, I was able to score a princess party on a pauper budget.  Let me know what you think!

The party table was complete with (Non)Nightshade Berries, Bear Claws, Fate Pops, and Clan Cookies.

Beautiful cake by Diane Anderson.

Each kid got their own bow and arrow set to use in the archery competition and take home.

Highland Games-kiddie style.

The homemade Merida favor bags were a huge hit and so affordable!

Clan signs were made from burlap and felt, and didn't take nearly as long as I had expected to make them.
The witch's brew (punch with dry ice) also gave the kids a kick.  I had to explain it wasn't a real spell before they would drink it, though. LOL!

Happy birthday, Little Fashionista!
May you find your fate!

All American Boy: Baby Shower

Red, white, and baby boy's time to welcome a new little boo! When my friend told me she was pregnant, I could not wait to start planning her baby shower....seriously. That's how my brain works. LOL.  Months in advance, we already had creative juices flowing with all of the possibilities.  One thing we knew for sure: with her Fourth of July due date, we wanted to play with a patriotic theme.  The result? An All-American Boy baby shower with hints of Southern flare from her Charleston roots.

Little Mermaid Birthday Party

It's a party under the sea, with this Little Mermaid birthday! From floating jellyfish to pretty pearl cupcakes, this party was a splash!

Check it out!

We submersed guests into the undersea world, with sparkly fishnets, hidden treasures, and rainbow jellyfish!

The dessert table was covered with fun under-the sea treats! We made pearl cupcakes, fish pops, oyster cookies, crab candies, fish pails, and the kids' favorite...octo-dogs!

And, brace yourself...
Me dressed up as Ariel, because I just couldn't say no to the sweet little birthday girl!

Tiffany & Co. Baby Shower

When I found out I was having another little girl, I immediately started planning the baby shower.  Yes, I know...I should have been buying diapers and stocking up on bibs, but really, this seemed like more fun;) It should come as no surprise to those of you who know me, that I immediately took to my obsession with Breakfast at Tiffany's and went for a "Baby & Co." baby shower.  Since the due date was Christmas day, I also wanted to incorporate Christmas elements and the result is my designer winter wonderland!

Jungle Baby Shower

"Wild Child!"

They always say little boys are the wild ones (though I have 2 adorable girls that I swear prove otherwise), so why not have fun with a "Wild Child" baby shower?!?

Everything from the diaper cake, to the baby gear, was covered in animal print, and it had the guests going bananas!

Come see...
